WVRA Conference Registration with Friday’s Author Luncheon Marc Harshman – REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED!

Marc Harshman’s Woman in Red Anorak won the Blue Lynx Poetry Prize and was published in 2018 by Lynx House Press. His poetry collection, Believe What You Can, published in 2016 by West Virginia University Press, won the Weatherford Award from the Appalachian Studies Association. It was also named the Appalachian Book of the Year by the Mountain Heritage Literary Festival in Tennessee. Poems have been anthologized by Kent State University, the University of Iowa, University of Georgia, SPM Publications [London], West Virginia University, the University of Arizona, and many others. He was the co-winner of the 2019 Allen Ginsberg Poetry Award and his Thanksgiving poem, “Dispatch from the Mountain State,” was printed in the 2020 Thanksgiving edition of The New York Times.

The West Virginia Reading Association is the oldest professional organization in West Virginia committed to literacy instruction in the Mountain State. During the annual conference, over 500 educators from all over West Virginia and several surrounding states will go through the Exhibit Hall. This conference provides an opportunity for vendors to showcase some of their new and exciting materials.

Highland Cow Painting

Paint Party: The Highland Cow

Come paint a highland cow along with local artist Kelly LaCava with Wild & Wonderful Paint Parties as she creates a painting inspired by children’s book Haggis the Hardy, Hairy, Handsome Homesick Highland Cow “Coo”. Unleash your inner creative by putting brush to canvas while you enjoy a hand-picked playlist. You’ll get step-by-step instruction, an apron to protect your nice clothes and all the materials you need to create your very own masterpiece. Walk away with a painting to be proud of on a 16x20in canvas that you can display in your home or office!
