68th Reading Conference Call for Proposals
The West Virginia Reading Association will be hosting its 68th Conference on November 21-22, 2024, at The Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, WV.
The WVRA is calling for proposals for the conference. The proposal deadline is August 1, 2024, and should connect to the conference theme Yes, We Can! and should align and identify with the following main topics:
- Topic 1: Mental Health of Students. What strategies or information do you have that can help other teachers with student motivation & attention or to create a healthy environment? Proposals should address this issue with very practical ideas to implement for literacy instruction.
- Topic II: Home Supports. What strategies or information do you have to help teachers reach out to and involve parents? Proposals should share ideas to reach out to and engage parents.
- Topic III: Classroom Supports. What strategies or information do you have to help teachers with instruction in decoding, writing, and comprehension? Proposal request submissions should present effective teaching ideas essential to literacy: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Comprehension, Fluency, Writing, and Speaking.
- Topic IV: Teacher Health. What strategies or information do you have to help teachers with work/life balance? Submissions should support teacher work/life balance and overall teacher satisfaction in the job.
**Proposals that promote commercial materials, programs, and/or professional consultants will be rejected.
